The Spirit of Cardiff crew have been honoured by the British Inflatable Boat Owners’ Association (BIBOA) with a special Achievement Award, recognising not just the remarkable effort of this year’s world circumnavigation attempt in the Spirit of Cardiff, but Alan Priddy’s contribution to RIBbing over many years. The Spirit of Cardiff crew also received the Yamaha trophy for an outstanding sponsored cruise.

For followers of this year’s around the world record attempt, hooked on Clive’s daily website updates and now suffering from withdrawal symptoms, the good news is that his book “Confronting Poseidon” has just been published. The book is more than just a blow-by-blow account of the voyage around the world – it also covers the whole history of the project, including all the previous world record runs, the efforts to secure sponsorship, and the background to the association with Cardiff.

Those who have read advance copies have found the story utterly compelling, and difficult to put down! “Confronting Poseidon – Around the world against the odds” is available from Offshore Publishing, price £19.99 plus £2.50 post and packing. The first thousand copies will be signed by Clive Tully and crew mates Alan Priddy and Steve Lloyd.

The book may be ordered online from the Spirit of Cardiff website at www.spirit-of-cardiff.com/shop/index.htm.
