Stadium at sea proposals for Barcelona FC

Spanish architect puts forward proposals to site a new 150,000-seater stadium on a man-made island off the coast of Barcelona

Lovers of the Catalan coast might have a new navigational hazard to dodge if a Spanish architect gets his way.

Emili Vidal has proposed building a new 150,000-seater stadium for Barcelona FC just off the coast of the Spanish city.

The proposal is a reaction to the decision to hand the renovation of the existing stadium, the Nou Camp, to British architect Norman Foster.

Vidal doesn’t believe the plans go far enough, so came up with his own ambitious scheme, which would see fans cross to the island stadium via a bridge.
