Strickland goes for new London to Monte Carlo record

Veteran record breaker stands by for weather improvement

Chris Strickland, holder of the fastest time over the 2,700-mile London to Monte Carlo course for the 30-50ft (9.1-15.2m) class at 61 hours 11 minutes plus the unlimited overall record, is standing by to set a new speed for craft under 30ft (9.1m).

My Pleasure, a single Yanmar diesel-powered 8.5m RIB, is standing by for a weather window in an attempt to set the record.

Chris will be partnering Gordon Compton who built the boat; the pair have been together on several successful record runs plus being highly placed in the 2008 Round Britain Race. They are now in the late stages of preparation for the new attempt.
