Discussions are in progress between UK boatbuilder Sunseeker and its German agent Sunseeker Europe (formerly Sunseeker Germany) to build boats over 35m under license in Germany.

Sunseeker’s shipyard in Poole, Dorset only has capacity to build the company’s models up to 31m.

The prospective agreement could see Peter Gruber and Hans-Hinrich Schulz of Sunseeker Europe establishing a Sunseeker Yacht Division Shipyard to build above 35 metres by acquiring the facilities of the A R-Neptun Boat Services at Warnow in the Rostock district in Gehlsdorf . An investment of Euro 50 million would be required over the next two years to create a new ship building hall on the site. It is speculated that Sunseeker’s new flagship 135 Yacht (41.5m) might be built at the site.

However Sunseeker International’s Robert and John Braithwaite have yet to sanction the initiative.
