i>ExtremeBoat wins its third consecutive championship heat

A racing master class from Britons Jackie Hunt and Mike Shelton driving ExtremeBoat in the Belgium Grand Prix of the Sea off Zeebrugge on Saturday secured the husband and wife team its third consecutive SuperSport win.

The Mercury-powered Dragon boat was clearly on a mission from the moment the start flag dropped, taking the lead at the first buoy and forging ahead of the field to increase its championship lead. Only Roscioli Hotels Roma, the Italian title challenger of Angelo Tedeschi, Fabio Magnani and Ugo Pellegrino, was able to stay within striking distance and its well deserved second place finish has moved the Italians within 70 points of the championship lead. They are still very much in contention with three races remaining.

The production class is always highly competitive and with British contenders VoomVoom.com and Team Sunseeker continuing their recent fine run of form, with Buzzi Bullet dropping to third place in the standings, the championship is still all to play for.

VoomVoom.com, the Southampton based boat of Vee Ganjavian and Charlie Williams-Hawkes deservedly took third place, the first diesel powered boat to cross the chequered flag, with the FPT-powered Sunseeker of Andy Wilby and Gavin Brown crossing the line fourth.
