The French Government has announced that VAT will be added to the cost of French charters from the middle of July – albeit at the rate of 9.8%, a 50% reduction on the usual rate of 19.6%.

Charters that are booked and signed before Monday 15 July 2013, regardless of when they will take place, will still be exempt from being subject to VAT. Charters booked after that date will have VAT added to the overall cost.

Example costs
Chartering a boat through Le Boat will go up by around £150, but when chartering a 2013 Sunseeker Predator 68 in the south of France, which costs around 21,000 Euro a week, the cost will increase by more than £1700.
