Watersports zone at Southampton show

Try stand-up paddle boarding and more

Things are warming up for the 40th anniversary of the PSP Southampton Boat Show, which takes place from 12-21 September.

As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations, show organisers have set up a new feature, The H2O Zone, in association the Calshot Activities Centre.

Open from 10.30am to 6.30pm every day of the show, the zone in Solent Park aims to offer a family-friendly interactive area where visitors of all ages can try sculling, canoeing or kayaking.

They will be under the watchful eye of industry professionals from the British Canoe Union and the Royal Yachting Association, with safety gear provided.

Visitors can also try out dinghy sailing, windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding, the Rigid Raider capsule simulation system, which recreates a real-life experience of the craft used by Royal Marines for rapid beach and riverbank insertions.

Visitors to The H2O Zone can pre-book a time slot when they arrive at the show.

Ticket purchasers also hoping to visit the London Boat Show may want to buy a combi-ticket, with which they can spend two full days at either Southampton or London, or one day at both Shows. In advance it costs £20 and on the door £25. Ticket hotline: 0844 209 0333.
