Wider announce plans for a Wider 150

The Wider 150 boasts low consumption and strong performance

They wowed us all with the bonkers 42 and now Wider are making a spectacular leap straight in to superyacht territory with the Wider 150.

In partnership with Camper and Nicholsons International they have designed a superyacht that picks up on what the Wider 42 started, in terms of design ingenuity and innovation, and runs with it.

It starts in the engineroom where hybrid power has been employed, twin 450kW electric motors will, so Wider say, give the boat a range of 56 miles at 8 knots. Open the throttles though and flat out, with the help of the 800hp diesel engines, the yard predict 20 knots.

On board there is a 33ft version of the 42 housed in the transom to run guests to and from the mother ship. When the tender is out the void can be filled with sea water to create a swimming pool down by the water’s edge or, if the owner’s mood suits, a dance floor.

Wings then fold out from either side of the transom and join with the bathing platform to make an enormous sunbathing and lounging area.

At the bow there’s room for a pair of PWCs or, alternatively, a Telsa Roadster electric sports car. The deck above them can be raised to the top of the bulwarks to act as a ‘touch ‘n’ go’ helipad.

In contrast to the theatrics on deck the interior is of a more classic layout with four guest cabins, four crew cabins and a master stateroom on the upper deck with panoramic views.
