The 74 is the first boat in a whole new range for Azimut which will eventually range from a 41 all the way up to a mammoth 88. The idea is for it to be a boat enjoyed by the owner, not run by captain and crew but a boat where it will be full of family and friends, well, that's what Azimut say, anyway.
 
The layout plays to this sociable them, the galley, for example is set right back against the cockpit doors so that the cook isn't isolated from the action when preparing food and it is easy to serve the deck areas. The crew cabin is also plush enough that if it is a member of the family or a friend staying in there, they won't feel hard done by.
 
The other point to make about this boat is that at 12 knot it has a quoted 1200nm range but, with throttles wide open, will hit nearly 25 knots. It does not as yet use the hybrid, like the system installed on the Mochi Long Range 23, for example, but there is a version of the Magenello with this system in the pipeline. Long range credentials are boosted by the second set of fridges and copious storage areas in the "utility room" aft.
 
For such a family orientated boat it could do with a few more handholds and less sharp edges on the furniture but there is no doubt that the light filled saloon is a wonderfully comfortable place to spend time.
