In the first of a new video series, John Boyle sets off from Mallorca in his new Princess V39 and takes on the Mediterranean

Like many British used boat buyers before him, John Boyle was tempted into buying a model that was moored in the Mediterranean, but unlike most used boat buyers he decided to drive it home.

In our new video series ‘The Long Way Home’, John sets off from Mallorca with the aim of bringing his new Princess V39 Cecienne back to his homeport of Falmouth.

It would have been cheaper to put the boat on the back of a lorry and arrange for it to be transported back to the UK by road, but as John puts it: “That wouldn’t be much of an adventure”.

This 2,220nm journey begins with a choppy crossing over to Ibiza, which turns out to be a pleasant surprise.

On Day Two, John makes landfall on mainland Spain and cruises along the coast to the ancient Roman outpost of Cartagena.
