VIDEO: Nordhavn 40 is our Used Boat of the Month

More than a decade on from its launch, the Nordhavn 40 still has ruggedness and charm in spades

Over the past 40 years, Nordhavn has built up a reputation for being the brand of choice of true adventurers, and in this month’s Used Boat video we find out why.

Launched in 1999, the Nordhavn 40 is second only to the Nordhavn 62 in its sheer longevity, as the Californian yard is still building them to this day.

A grand total of 69 hulls have been launched and four of them have done a circumnavigation of the globe.

Fortunately for us, one of these globetrotters is now moored up at Hamble Point Marina, so we took the chance to jump on board and have a proper look around.

This 2005 model has more than 600 hours on the clock, which is a tiny fraction of what its 105hp Lugger 668 diesel engine is designed to do.

Accommodation-wise, the bow-end master cabin is the star of the show and there is a second cabin amidships for two guests to stay the night, provided they don’t mind bunk beds.
