VIDEO: Van Geest Design reveals shimmering superyacht concept

The Dutch designers have used the Dubai International Boat Show to launch their concept for a shimmering superyacht

It takes a lot for a new superyacht concept to stand out amongst the glitz and glamour of the Dubai International Boat Show, so this idea for a shimmering superyacht is suitably dramatic.

Designed by Dutch studio Van Geest Design in association with Oceanco and Temeloy lighting architecture design, Moonstone features 300 independent triangles.

These panels can be individually illuminated and programmed to make it look like the surface is shimmering in the moonlight.

It’s 90m hull would be propelled up to a top speed of 18.5 knots by a pair of MTU 20V4000 M73L engines, generating 3,600kW each.

Van Geest MoonstoneOther key features include a sky lounge boasting 360-degree panoramic views, helicopter pad on the bow, and an aft beach club with an infinity pool and six double sunpads.

The owners get an entire deck to themselves with spa and gym areas, while 12 guests can be accommodated across four doubles and two twin cabins.

The Dubai International Boat Show opened yesterday and runs until Saturday (March 5).
