VIDEO: Burning superyacht filmed in US Virgin Islands

Footage has emerged of a burning superyacht that caught fire on Tuesday in the US Virgin Islands

The US Virgin Islands was the scene of a devastating yacht fire on Tuesday afternoon, as a burning superyacht was consumed by flames.

Positive Energy, a 26m Monte Fino motor yacht, was completely gutted by the blaze that is believed to have started on the upper deck of the vessel moored on the Caribbean island.

YachtHarbour.com reports that the boat was launched in 2004 and had been refitted as recently as 2012.

A US Coastguard vessel later towed the burning superyacht to a less congested area, where the flames were contained, with the fire eventually burning out by 1800 local time.

No injures was reported and an investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway by local authorities at Charlotte Amalie harbour on the island of St. Thomas.

This is the fourth video of a burning superyacht to emerge this year, after similar incidents in Marmaris, Fethiye and Abu Dhabi claimed multiple vessels.
