VIDEO: Used Boat takes a look at the Broom 50

When it was launched in 1998, the Broom 50 was the Brundall yard’s flagship, but how has it stood up to the test of time? We sent Chris Jefferies to find out

More than 17 years have passed since Broom unveiled its largest hull design to date, the Broom 50.

Since then a lot has changed at the Brundall yard, but this timeless design hasn’t aged a jot.

For our latest Used Boat report we travelled to Norfolk to inspect one of the best-kept models on the market.

As you would expect from Broom, the well-thought-out aft-cabin is the star of the show, featuring plenty of storage space and a split heads compartment, with a shower in a completely separate room.

Up in the saloon, there is plenty of space to relax and entertain guests, while the third cabin amidships comes in a variety of clever configurations.

We also take a look at the helm position on the Broom 50, which features an adjustable bench seat and central controls on this model.

Finally, we talk to Greg Houlston from Broom to get an idea of how this design could inspire a new generation of 45ft+ aft-cabin cruisers.
