VIDEO: Brioni 44 review

The Brioni 44 is a slightly different take on the sportscruiser genre, Nick Burnham puts it to the test in Montenegro

Despite its Italian name the Brioni 44 is actually built in the modern boatbuilding hot bed that is Slovenia.

The name won’t be familiar to many so the 44 is facing an up hill battle to topple its more established competition.

It’s a sweet-looking design with a swooping profile and neatly tapered stern bursting with retro charm.

On board the clever cockpit is dotted with smart touches, like the sunpad backrest that can be removed and installed on the bathing platform to create a waterside perch and the wet-bar unit pulls out on runners from the portside wheelhouse moulding.

Below there are two cabins with a VIP in the bow and broad if a little low full-beam master tucked beneath the saloon.

IPS600 with 435hp per side gives the 44 meaty acceleration and an impressive top speed of 38 knots.
