A presentation of a new award took place at a special ceremony held by the  Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) in Monaco over the weekend.

A trophy, in memory of 30 year old Stefano Casiraghi who lost his life while defending his world title off the coast of Monaco in October 1990, was presented by his brother Marco (pictured left) on behalf of the Italian champion’s family..

The honour – which is given in recognition of special service to the sport – was presented to UIM Promoter, Mauro Ravenna (pictured right), for his commitment to the development and improvement of powerboating throughout his career.

“This is a very special award and we are most grateful to the Casiraghi family for their support on the 20th anniversary of Stefano’s death.” said Dr. Raffaele Chiulli, President, UIM. “For at least 25 years, Mauro Ravenna has given so much to the development of powerboating, he is fully deserving of this prestigious accolade.”
