Jeanneau have built a strong reputation by building good value, solid boats which are refreshingly unpretentious and impressive value for money. The question is, can they still live by this ethos when the boat is 63ft long and costs over £1 million?
Well the simple answer is yes, if anything, the unfussy design is at its very best on this scale and on the Prestige 60 it's the saloon where the no nonsense design makes most sense.
The rectangular windows may not have the quirky eccentricity of some rivals but they do a fantastic job of flooding the living area in natural light, the view out is unrivalled in the class.
The other key feature of the saloon is that the first thing you come across when you enter from the cockpit doors is the galley.
This layout makes such good sense we can't see why more manufacturers don't do it, it puts the galley in the prime location to serve the cockpit and flybridge.
On the water the decision to use Volvo Penta IPS means that the Jeanneau feels more lively in the turns then a traditional shaftdrive boat but still feels planted when the sea gets lumpy. In the 2-3ft swell that we encountered outside Marseille on test the big Jeanneau felt reassuringly stable.
