List of Cowes to Monte Carlo entrants released

Forty paid-up contenders with more to come, says to race chairman Mike Lloyd

The list of crews who have paid the initial £500 deposit for the 2,400-mile Cowes to Monte Carlo Grand Prix has been released by race chairman Mike Lloyd.

The number of confirmed runners currently sits at 40, but Lloyd is confident the final quota of 55 will be hit well before the start of the event in 2013.

But even if only half this field make it to the Mediterranean portion of the race, fuelling so many boats overnight will prove a considerable logistical exercise.

Race organisers have said they will start reconnoitering French and Spanish harbours later this month.
