Jeanneau Prestige 60

Read it in the April 2010 issue of MBY

You may have seen plenty of 60 -foot flybridge cruisers, but you won’t have seen anything quite like the new Jeanneau Prestige 60.

For starters, it’s powered by Volvo’s new 700hp IPS900, opening up the world of IPS joystick control to help you with those tricky manoeuvring challenges.

There are other benefits too. MBY‘s comprehensive test figures show it to be a particularly quiet boat, plus Jeanneau has produced a superb space-to-spare IPS engineroom with possibly the easiest day-to-day service access we’ve seen on this size of flybridge cruiser.

But these are not the things that will stop you in your tracks. Nope, that would be the Prestige 60’s saloon, and its giant wraparound saloon windows.

Not for Jeanneau the multiple curvy windows that shape many a modern powerboat, instead they have blessed the Prestige 60 with an almost unbroken panoramic wall of glass in the saloon.

The effect for those inside is a wonderful window of the world that is unmatched on any other similar boat. If you want a view this good, you’ll have to buy a canoe.

These unmatched views out provide another invaluable benefit. Along with a helping hand from IPS, the result is, by some considerable margin, the easiest and safest 60 foot flybridge boat I’ve ever had the pleasure of piloting. So easy is this boat to pilot that you could handle and moor it single handed much of the time.

Catch up with our full test in the April issue of MBY and find out how this £1.04 million boat fares when it comes to value for money, handling and performance, fuel efficiency, and build and construction quality. There are a few surprises in store.
