We have gone around the PSP Southampton Boat Show to bring you virtual tours of the best boats.

Boats of the 2012 PSP Southampton Boat Show: Sunseeker Portofino 40
The strongest threat yet to the Princess V39, the Portofino aces the Princess with super cool detailing, a fantastically light and airy saloon, and the option of D6-400 engines taking performance beyond 40 knots. Only a

couple of minor design issues and a £50,000 higher buy in figure stand

in the way of a class best accolade.

Boats of the 2012 PSP Southampton Boat Show: Princess V39
In spite of pressure from all quarters, the Princess clings to her crown as the best 40ft sportscruiser. Offering a broad spectrum of

talents including advanced build techniques, strong performance,

fabulous accommodation and legendary Princess quality, and at

comfortably under £300,000 you can add spectacular value for money to

its litany of talents.

Boats of the 2012 PSP Southampton Boat Show: Bavaria 420 Virtess
Bavaria has been upping its game considerably of late, moving from its traditional sportscruiser domain and launching an assault on the flybridge market with this new Virtess 42. Unusual features include a three-cabin layout and the option of outdrive or IPS propulsion. Add in a huge flybridge and a competitive £348,242 price tag and Bavaria has put together a strong package here.

Boats of the 2012 PSP Southampton Boat Show: XO240 RS
Two fabulous Finnish flyers, the XO240 RS Open and RS Cabin feature

tough aluminium deep vee hulls wrapped in supercool carbon-look vinyl

with equally stylish GRP upper mouldings. The RS Open is perhaps the

ultimate dayboat, with the RS Cabin version extending usage to a genuine

all year round proposition.

Boats of the 2012 PSP Southampton Boat Show: Quicksilver 705
All starter boats seem to be £50,000 these days but not many pack in the

kind of accommodation to be found in the latest and largest

Quicksilver. The 705 Activ packs in a fully enclosed saloon with over

six feet of headroom, and an adaptive seating layout that converts

between forward seating for five, a comfy dinette, or a large double

berth.

Boats of the 2012 PSP Southampton Boat Show: Rodman 1250 Pro Fisher

A boat that proved to be so much more than the expected revamp,

the Pro Fisher is a completely different beast to the existing 1250.

Bigger, tougher, heavier, everything about the 1250 Sport Fisher feels

hewn from solid. It’s more stylish too, and the interior receives a

welcome quality boost.

Boats of the 2012 PSP Southampton Boat Show: Sealine F48
What at first appeared to be a minor update to the mildly flawed F46 quickly

transpired to be a total transformation. Quality levels are massively

improved throughout, the layout is greatly enhanced by the addition of

greater storage, more layout flexibility, and much needed much improved

headroom in the aft cabin.

Aquastar 42 to debut at the 2012 PSP Southampton Boat Show
MBM’s Neale Byart and Claire Frew came across the new Aquastar 42

moored in St Peter Port’s QE2 marina. The boat is due to make its world

debut at the PSP Southampton Boat Show, on berth M025.
