The RYA’s guide to surviving at sea will now include the full syllabus for the ISAF Offshore Personal Survival Course

The official text for the RYA Basic Sea Survival Course has been brought up to date, with all the latest information on offshore survival.

Topics covered include the importance of having the correct safety equipment, as well as the knowledge of how and when to use it.

Aimed at offshore boat racers and coastal cruisers, the guide has been updated to include the syllabus for the ISAF Offshore Personal Survival Course, and has been split into two main parts to reflect the two stages of the course.

Key chapters include ‘Before You Leave’, ‘Calling For Help’, ‘Understanding Weather’, ‘MOB Prevention’ and ‘Fire Control’.

The book’s author Keith Colwell works as an RNLI community incident reduction manager, and has experience as a yachmaster, powerboat instructor, and sea survival teacher.

Available to order from the RYA online shop, the RYA Sea Survival Handbook – 2nd Edition is priced at £12.99 (+£1.50 P&P).
