This lifeboat needs you!

The manager of Guernsey's Beaucette Marina is appealing for a buyer to save this classic former lifeboat from the scrapyard.

Manager of Guernsey’s Beaucette Marina Niall Rhys Evans is appealing for a buyer to save this classic former lifeboat from the scrapyard.

Caresana was originally called the Charles Cooper Henderson in her days as the Dungeness rescue craft and according to the owner could be Britain’s longest-serving lifeboat, with 46 years’ service.

The craft was also involved in the Dunkirk evacuations of 1940. She is sitting on the hard at Beaucette.

Evans said: “She could be lost forever if not salvaged soon. The owner is keen to sell as he can no longer afford to keep the vessel going. We’re hoping someone may wish to take this project on.”

Anyone interested is asked to contact Evans. Tel: 01481 245000, or e-mail niallre@beaucettemarina.com
