Folding bulwarks and acres of sunpad space give the Wallytender 48 plenty of Med appeal
A quick glance at some of the other new launches heading to the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival suggests that Wally was ahead of its time when it launched the Wallytender in 2001.
These days you can’t move for smart, stylish day boats with big power and even bigger sunpads, but it was the eccentric Italian yard that set the trend.
Eighteen years on and the basic Wallytender shape is unchanged and still as cool as frozen cucumber, but under the stewardship of the Ferretti Group it has gained some appealing features.
It gets folding balconies in the cockpit as standard and a hydraulic passerelle that doubles as a swim ladder. There’s also a hidden anchor mechanism that sprouts from the bow.
It’s a modern icon with a 38-knot top speed and enough sleeping space for two.
