BladeRun 2010 confirms first UK entry

British P1 contenders take a break with fun and frolics

British international powerboating crew, Kim Collins and Dan Cramphorn (pictured), have confirmed they will be competing in BladeRun-Western Europe, a three-day powerboat rally that starts in Rotterdam on Thursday July 15.

Competing in Team 26, a Sterling-powered Donzi 38ZRC, Collins and Cramphorn won six international races in 2009 and are the first UK entrants to sign-up for this European challenge which combines glamour, speed and power.

“The Dutch organisers are very professional and with 50 teams already entered promises to be one hell of an event,” confirms Collins. “I would encourage anyone with a taste for a party and a half decent boat to have a go.”

The British pairing will compete in BladeRun with a new Belgium Burnico 41ft prototype built exclusively to compete in P1’s Evolution Class in 2011.

“While our energies are now focussed fully upon a challenge for P1’s world title, we are up for some mid-season fun and relaxation,” Collins explains. “We enjoy the camaraderie, glamour and adventure of these events. Our introduction to powerboating resulted from a BladeRun event we entered in 2007.”

Confirmed entrants include several racing drivers, a pop star, a DJ and Miss Holland

“I’m not sure if she has a boat,” continues Collins, “but we definitely have a spare seat!”
