A British boat builder is expected to be chosen to build a new training vessel for the Marine Society & Sea Cadets

A British boat builder is expected to be chosen to build a new training vessel for the Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC). An order for the £2.5 million power training boat, to be named TS Jack Petchey, is due to be placed within the next six weeks.

The boat, which will take around two years to build, will be based on the Thames and will be 24m in length and fitted with 16 berths. Mike Cornish, chief executive of the Marine Society, said that the new boat will not be restricted to the Sea Cadets, but will be available to the ‘youth of London’.
