Celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's old boat is up for auction

Essex Boatyards is auctioning off Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s old boat,Sea Fox.

The celebrity chef, star of Channel 4’s successful River Cottage programmes, asked the dealer to stage the auction after taking delivery of an Arvor 250 in March.

All proceeds from the auction will go to Hugh’s chosen charity – Rural Revival, an organisation that is trying to “break the cycle of rural decline”.

The chef, perhaps more famous for serving up road kill and pan-frying placenta than motorboating, has many fond memories ofSea Fox.

“She has featured in some very memorable River Cottage maritime adventures, including landing my very first Dorset bass, and also the Hunt for the Giant Lobster.

“We are sureSea Foxhas many good family fun and fishing years ahead of her, and we wish her new owners the very best.”

As well as gaining a piece of culinary history, the winning bidder will also receive a free place on a River Cottage Catch and Cook day, worth £225.
