Dover powerboat race death

A man has died after being thrown from his boat during a powerboat race at Dover

A man has died after being thrown from his boat during a powerboat race at Dover on Saturday. The victim, who has not yet been named, was thrown into the water when his boat flipped after hitting a wave, but he was then hit by another boat competing in Dover Regatta.

Rescue boats rushed to his aid and pulled him from the water, but when he arrived ashore paramedics pronounced him dead. “Four people were travelling in the boats”, said a Kent Police spokesman, “and one of the four, a man in his forties, suffered fatal injuries.”
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
