Floating throne: Queen’s Jubilee barge pictures released

Pictures of the Royal Barge that will carry the Queen during the Thames Jubilee Pageant have been released

The barge is currently a Thames passenger boat, owned by the Magna Carta Steamship Company.

The Spirit of Chartwell will undergo an extravagant transformation before joining the 1000 boats for a 7.5-mile flotilla celebrating the Queen’s 60 years on the throne on June 3 next year.

She was chosen for her size, comfort, safety and manoeuvrability and will be decorated by Emmy award-winning production designer Joseph Bennet and gardener Rachel De Thame to echo the richly-decorated royal barges of the 17th and 18th Centuries.
