Full line-up revealed for MBY reader sea trial

Our motor boat fleet is complete – here is the full list of the ten speed machines you can test drive during our MBY reader sea trial

Our ultimate test drive day is fast approaching, and we can now confirm the full list of boats attending our MBY reader sea trial in Portland Marina on July 18.

In addition to the previously announced models from Williams, Sealegs, XO, Axopar and Shearwater, we can now confirm the following:

Cobra 7.6

A long-time favourite, this sporty RIB (pictured above) was part of our old sister title Motor Boat Monthly’s cruising club back in 2010.

Reviewer Claire Frew praised its “silky smooth and instant outboard power”, which in its 250hp Yamaha guise means a top speed of 43 knots.

The chase boat of choice for Sir Ben Ainslie’s BAR sailing team, Scorpion is one of the most revered names in fast RIBs.

The Stealth 9m (above) is a pure driving experience, with its twin-stepped hull twinned to a 300hp Mercury Verado making for an unforgettable ride.

Ribeye-Prime-821Ribeye Prime 8.21

Fresh from its launch at the 2015 London Boat Show, the new Ribeye Prime series offers the ultimate in dayboat luxury.

However, that doesn’t mean its lacking in the performance department, with its renowned Adam Younger hull ensuring plenty of thrills.

Brig Eagle 650

Another brand new model, the Brig Eagle 650 is a deep-vee hulled RIB that builds on the highly popular Brig 645 family cruiser.

Equipped with a 150hp Suzuki outboard, this handsome vessel is proof that you can enjoy high-speed fun in plenty of comfort on a 6m RIB and still get change from £50,000.

XO 270

As if one XO wasn’t enough, we’ve now got a brace of these 300hp Finnish speed machines for you to drive.

As well as the XO 250 we announced last week, Poole-based dealer Wessex Marine will be bringing along its bigger brother, the XO 270, which we reviewed back in 2013:

Places for the MBY reader sea trial cost £25 per person, are strictly limited to 50 and are allocated on the basis of those actively looking to buy a new boat.
