Huge wind farm approved

Plans for the UK's fourth largest offshore wind farm have been approved by the Government.

Plans for the UK’s fourth largest offshore wind farm have been approved by the Government. The 35km² Sheringham Shoal farm will comprise up to 108 turbines, and the nearest will be approximately nine nautical miles off the Norfolk coast.

Approval is conditional on a technical solution being found to mitigate the farm’s effect on a nearby RAF Air Defence Radar. Construction of the wind farm is likely to start in 2009 and will take up to two years to complete.
