A controversial 10mph speed limit to be introduced on Lake Windermere in March 2005 will not be withdrawn, it has been announced.

The Lake District National Park Authority is sending a newsletter to thousands of boaters around Windermere asking them to finally accept the ruling.

Boatowners have campaigned vigorously against the speed limit, which they say will destroy tourism around the lake.

The LDNPA claims the restriction is necessary because of a growing conflict of interests between water-users.

For more on the situation read the next issue of Motor Boats Monthly, on sale 16 December.
