Man missing after D Day boat sinks in Plymouth

The search resumed this morning for a missing man who went overboard when the Yarmouth Navigator began to sink in Plymouth yesterday

The 98ft Yarmouth Navigator, an ex-Navy minesweeper, sank at

about 6pm last night, forcing each of its four passengers overboard.

The incident happened while the boat was tied to a mooring buoy near Plymouth Yacht Haven in Plymouth Harbour and although three of the victims were rescued, the hunt is still on for a fourth man, who was not believed to be wearing a lifejacket.

Dave Scullion, watch manager at Brixham Coastguard, said last night, “We are continuing with the coordination of the search for this man. It would appear that he had gone back into the wheelhouse to retrieve some equipment, when the vessel finally sank.”
