A new NVQ overseen by the British Marine Industry offers youngsters a chance to get their hands dirty in Fairline’s Oundle yard, alongside a theory course at nearby Tresham College, Corby.

Meanwhile in the South West the first of three boat-building training centres has opened in Poole, Dorset.

The Poole Marine Skills Centre at Hamworthy offers City and Guilds qualifications for 14-24-year-olds, with training support from Sunseeker. Further centres are set to open in Falmouth and Plymouth.
