Media interest widens for Round Britain Race 2008

Daily live updates on breakfast TV

The organisers of the forthcoming Round Britain offshore powerboat race starting from Portsmouth on June 21 are reporting wide media interest in the event. Current indications suggest resulting coverage could be the widest in the history of modern offshore racing.

BBC TV Breakfast are planning to broadcast live from Portsmouth during scrutineering on Friday June 20, the start on June 21, Milford Haven on June 23, Bangor June 24, Oban June 25, Inverness June 27 and Lowestoft June 30. Other channels and local radio are also showing interest while national and regional daily papers are equally keen.

The Portsmouth News, a large regional daily paper covering West Sussex and East Hants are planning a special supplement edition that could attract large numbers of spectators to Gunwharf Quays where the race starts and finishes.
