Milford Haven takes coastguard petition to Downing Street

The Save Milford Haven Coastguard Campaign Group will present 20,000 signatures to Downing Street this afternoon calling for the station to be saved from closure

As part of the ongoing campaign against the government’s consultation into the modernisation of the coastguard, Milford Haven, one of the stations earmarked for closure, will present a petition with 20,000 signatures to Downing Street at 2.30pm this afternoon.

Dennis O’Connor, spokesman for Save Milford Haven Coastguard Campaign, said, “We are absolutely delighted that the people of Pembrokeshire and west Wales have come out in force in support of saving Milford Haven.”

This follows a damning report from the Transport Select Committee last week, which called for the coastguard proposals to be scrapped.
