New Guernsey marina proposed

Plans are afoot to develop St Peter Port's Careening Hard area into a new marina

Proposals have been put forward for a new marina to be created in St Peter Port harbour. Guernsey’s Public Services Department has asked for tenders to be submitted for the installation of a marina in the harbour’s Careening Hard.

No decision will be taken on whether to proceed with the idea until such tenders have been examined, but it is estimated that it could generate around £2 million per year for Guernsey Harbour Authority.

Harbourmaster, Captain Peter Gill, says that if it does go ahead, the existing beach area would be retained.

Several previous plans to develop the Careening Hard have faltered in the face of local opposition.
