New Thames patrol boats named

Two new Port of London Authority patrol boats have been officially named

Two new Port of London Authority patrol boats have been officially named in a ceremony held at Richmond Lock. Local MPs Susan Kramer and Justine Greening christened the slim-hulled catamarans Chelsea and Richmond.

The boats, which were designed and built by EcoCats, will patrol the River Thames between Putney and Teddington to oversee safety and provide emergency support for river users. They will also play an important role in major sporting events on the river, such as the University Boat Race and the Great River Race.
