Next year’s Round Britain gets go ahead

Course to be a seven leg contest

Following approval from the Offshore Racing Committee of the RYA a fourth Round Britain offshore powerboat race will start from Portsmouth in 2011. Titled RB11, the event has already received wide interest from many areas of the sport and could attracted the largest line-up since the inaugural Round Britain race was held in 1969

Organisers have accepted the requests from many competitors for the course to include an ‘adventure’ format. Hence the race has been reduced to a seven leg format with the western area no longer visiting Northern Ireland or Isle of Man. Instead the third section from Milford Haven to Oban will be known as an ‘adventure’ leg of approximately 310 Nautical miles. Crews will be free to plan their own route/fueling strategy while taking into account all specified exclusion zones.
