Norfolk police launch boat patrols

Police in Norfolk have launched regular waterborne patrols to combat coastal crime.

Police in Norfolk have launched regular waterborne patrols to combat coastal crime. Officers will use a RIB to cover areas such as Wells-next-the-Sea, Morston and Blakeney, and hope that their presence will deter thefts from moored boats and reduce antisocial use of jetskis and other craft.

Local businesses and organisations have been praised for helping with equipment, maintenance, training and certification for the RIB and its crew. “Far from just asking for the marine patrols,” said a police spokesman, “the community has provided the vast majority of the wherewithal to get it done”.
