Olympian backs Maritime Museum

Sir Ben Ainslie has become the latest Patron for the National Maritime Museum in Cornwall

The four time Olympic gold medalist is a long term supporter of the NMMC, where his boats have been on display for over a decade. Among the collection is his Laser dinghy, which he sailed to victory at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

“Like me, the Museum has a passion for boats and I am delighted to have been asked to become their new Patron,” said Sir Ben. “I admire their commitment to celebrating the sea, boats and Cornwall. Perhaps we can inspire the next generation of Olympic champions!”

Museum Director Jonathan Griffin is delighted to have him on board. “Having a figure of Sir Ben Ainslie’s stature will be of huge benefit as we continue with our campaign to raise £4m over the next decade and secure our future ambitions for the Museum.”
