Police on trail of Port Solent vandals

CCTV footage showing marina intruders handed to police

Police are hunting a group of vandals that broke into Port Solent Marina in the early hours of Saturday and damaged a number of boats.

CCTV footage showing the youths in the marina has been handed to police, and marina bosses are confident positive identifications can be made.

Four boats were vandalised with graffiti during the break in, and three were entered, although little was taken, according to a Premier Marinas spokeswoman.

The police were eventually called to the marina at 5am by the on-site security officer after he spied the intruders on the security cameras.

The spokeswoman said Premier’s security man got within “a hair’s breadth” of the vandals before they ran away.

The spokeswoman added: “We are confident that the vandals will be identified from the cameras which were newly updated to the latest technology last year.”
