Princess Anne brushes up on Broom at London Boat Show

The Princess Royal was given a brief history of Broom on the Broom Owners’ Club stand at the London Boat Show

Of all the tens of thousands of visitors to this year’s CWM FX London Boat Show, few caused as much excitement and commotion as The Princess Royal.

And while most people know that Princess Anne is a keen sailor, we understand that she has also been casting some admiring glances towards the world of motorboats.

During her visit to the Excel Centre, Her Royal Highness made a visit to the Broom Owners’ Club stand, where president Gill Oldham (pictured above) was on hand to talk through the history of Broom and the general virtues of the venerable Norfolk marque.

Of particular interest to the Princess Royal was an archive photo of The Queen and Prince Phillip cruising aboard a Broom in 1976, on their way to the opening of the visitor centre at Ranworth Broad.

The Broom Owners’ Club has signed up three new members since the end of the show, but would not be drawn as to whether Princess Anne was one of them.
