Qatar Team’s Alex Carella leads F1 H20 championship

Win in Abu Dhabi elevates Italian star to top of F1 H20 points table

Italian Alex Carella of Qatar Team held off rival Ahmed Al Hameli of Team Abu Dhabi and fellow Qatar Team driver Jay Price in the UAE on Friday to win the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The result moves him to the top of the UIM F1 H2O World Championship standings ahead of the final race of the season next week in Sharjah.

Carella rocketed into first place from pole position and never looked back, winning by 3.25 seconds. He now has 84 points, five points ahead of Price who picked up 12 for finishing third.

“We had a perfect day today,” said Carella. “Everything went well with the only excitement coming near the end as we lapped the slower traffic giving Ahmed a shot at taking a run at me.
