RYA Navigation Handbook updated for 2nd edition

The Royal Yacht Association’s best-selling handbook has been revised and is now available online as well as in print

The Royal Yachting Association has updated its Navigation Handbook with more detail and guidance on using electronic systems.

In response to the march of technology since the first edition came out in 2005, the RYA has also created an eBook version with helpful videos and animations.

The RYA has aimed to strike a balance between recognising the popularity of electronic systems and honouring the value of more traditional techniques, such as knowledge of tides, lights, buoys and beacons.

Designed to be both essential reading for first-timers and a useful reference guide for experienced navigators, the second edition covers all the principles of safe navigation.

Stephen Vittles, e-content editor at the RYA, said: “The bookmarking and note taking facilities help readers to quickly reference all the information they need at the touch of a button.”
