This year’s P1 World Offshore Championship series will begin in Valletta Harbour, Malta, on May 13-14 before visiting some of Europe’s finest offshore powerboat racing venues.

Six events, with the exception of the final round on the Iberian Peninsula, will be hosted by existing P1 signature venues. More than ten were considered for 2006 but as Nathan Knight, CEO for promoters KBL Powerboat Management Ltd, explains the benefits of continuity have outweighed all other factors.

“We enjoyed excellent relationships with the authorities, local promoters and business partners at each of our 2005 venues. Races in Malta, Italy, Travemünde in Germany and Cowes attracted a combined attendance of more than a quarter of a million people which is an impressive figure for any form of motor sport.”

“Returning to a venue makes good business sense and enables all parties to commit greater investment by creating the best possible racing spectacle and a memorable occasion for everyone. Each venue embraces the P1 sporting model and in return we are able to provide them with a fresh and dynamic sport with worldwide media appeal.”
