Skipper refuses to get feet wet after running aground

Motorboat is beached on Isle de Tabarca, off Alicante in Spain, but there was just enough water from boat to shore for the tender

Was it really necessary to get the tender out for the three-metre trip ashore?

This photo shows a Spanish-flagged motorboat that ran aground last week on Isla de Tabarca, just off Alicante in Spain.

Bob Neech, who took the photo, said the skipper had ignored the 200m no-anchor zone off the beach and then watched as the boat dragged its anchor until it was firmly beached.

The skipper tried in vain to free his boat, but failed, and had to wait until something big enough turned up to drag him off the beach and into port.

“The local police were suitable unimpressed,” Bob said.
