SNAV OSG heads for Gothenburg

High hopes for Austrian/ Italian duo in Swedish round

Hannes Bohinc and Giancarlo Cangiano are prepared for rough weather and tough racing as they finish testing before heading to Gothenburg for rounds seven and eight of the P1 World Powerboat Championship, the inaugural Scandinavian Grand Prix on August 7-9.

“It goes without saying that we’ll be going for the win, but so will several other teams hence it will be an extremely competitive weekend,” explains Austrian Hannes Bohinc. “We’re expecting heavy conditions which we haven’t encountered yet this year, but the boat’s performance, and that of Giancarlo and I, in the rough is already proven so we have every reason to be confident.

The duo, both former P1 World Champions, return to the cockpit together following a victorious SNAV OSG performance in Italy for team owner and throttleman, Cangiano, and fellow Italian and reserve pilot, Giovanni Carpitella. The much-needed win positioned the team in second place behind Evolution Class leader, Silverline. The anticipated arduous weather conditions next weekend will ensue three flat water Grand Prix, two of which saw SNAV OSG at the top of podium.

“We have two new props and have made other refinements to improve the boat’s efficiency in choppy waters which we hope will give us the edge,” adds Bohinc. “It is up to us to cut the points deficit between ourselves and Silverline, the aim is to return from Sweden at the top of the leader board.”
