The RNLI wants you

Looking for a challenge in 2013? Become a lifeguard

New Year is a traditional time to set yourself a challenge, but instead of going without chips or beer why not join the RNLI?

The RNLI is best known for its lifeboats, but it also runs an army of lifeguards on beaches across the UK, keeping swimmers safe.

During Christmas and New Year, lifeguards will be on patrol at Boscombe beach, Bournemouth and Crosby in Merseyside, keeping an eye on those hardy enough to take a festive dip.

But in the height of the summer the charity will patrol 180 different beaches in the UK, something that requires huge manpower. So the RNLI is calling all boaters to see if they have what it takes to help keep the public safe this year.
