World War II motorboat re-launched

A restored World War II Army motorboat will be officially re-launched on 8 May

A restored World War II Army motorboat will be officially re-launched on 8 May with a voyage up the Thames to Windsor. Garth was built by the British Power Boat Company as a 44ft 6in River class Fast Launch, and served with the Royal Army Service Corps (RASC) in Egypt, Hong Kong, and the UK.

She has been restored by the Coastal Motorboat Heritage Trust (CMHT) and will be permanently moored at Small Gains Marina at the Point on Canvey Island. The CMHT is looking for an Essex-based skipper and crew to take the boat out on other engagements throughout the year.

Anyone interested should contact CMHT Secretary Jon Cook at john.cook@amserve.com
