The British duo, Peter Dredge and Ian Sanderson, are planning a record attempt on the 1,330 run from Venice to Monte Carlo in their Sunseeker XS2000

The team is in the final countdown to their departure from Venice Lido, expected to be between 1200-1400 CET today, and their attempt to set a new World Record for the 1,330 nautical mile run between Venice and Monte Carlo.

The 14 metre production Sunseeker XS2000 boat with its twin 450hp Yanmar turbo diesels is targeting the 58 hour, 19.33 knot benchmark established in July 2001 by Fabio Buzzi and Hannes Bohinc.

Weather forecast suggests slight NW winds and minimal seastate through the Adriatic, thunder storms through the Straits of Messina and the possibility of Force 3 WSW winds in the Mediterranean.
